OFF THE PEGS II: POST-IT NOTE WALK CYCLES

Optional Reading: Preston Blair-Walk_Run_Skip

A. Walk in Place
  1. Animate a Walk Cycle on Post-it Notes:
    • Design a simple character that will easily animate in forward motion.
    • Use Post-it Notes to animate your character. Feel free to make them run, jump or simply stroll.
  2. Shoot Cycle on 1's:
    • Set up Dragonframe to capture a single post-it note in the center of the field.
    • Shoot cycle on 1's, set playback to loop at 12fps. Try the playback at 8fps to see how the slower, slightly choppier version looks.
    • Copy and paste cycle 5 times.
    • Export Movie at the preferred playback speed.
B. Walk Across Screen
    1. Shoot Cycles "in Locomotion": You will be shooting the same drawings only this time instead of registering the post-its on top of each other you will advance each drawing slightly allowing your character to travel across the table of the copy stand.
      • Frame Camera:  In a new Take reframe your camera showing as much of the table as possible. This will give your character plenty of room to travel.
      • Determine Stride:  Use onionskin to establish the distance each drawing should advance between poses without appearing to slide forward or walk in place.
      • Shoot Animation: Shoot animations on 1's advancing your Post-its as far as the drawn animation will allow.  Loop the playback after shooting the first stride and make adjustments if necessary.  If you like what you see finish the shoot.
      • Export Movie.
    2. Export and Submit Movies: Export movies directly from Dragonframe (1920 x 1080) and submit to class @DROPBOX.
